Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP)
• Perform comprehensive newborn assessments and transition care immediately after birth
• Continuously monitor fetal status and interpret electronic fetal monitoring to support safe deliveries
• Manage inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil) and assist with operative births including C-sections, vacuum and forceps deliveries
• Respond quickly and effectively to OB emergencies such as shoulder dystocia and postpartum hemorrhage
• Document all patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech and CPN
• Collaborate closely with NICU staff and utilize tele-neonatology resources when needed
• Participate in daily patient and safety rounding to enhance patient experience and unit performance

Qualifications

• BLS, NRP and Fetal Monitoring training required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience
• Hands-on experience with inductions, newborn assessment and C-section support
• Comfortable with couplet care and newborn stabilization practices
• Familiarity with Meditech and CPN documentation systems
• Able and willing to float within the facility as needed, including cross-covering NICU when required
• Experience with OB emergency management (shoulder dystocia, PPH) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and education skills
• Proficient in newborn assessment and immediate postnatal care
• Skilled in induction management and medication protocols (Pitocin, Cervidil)
• Experience assisting in operative deliveries (C-section, vacuum/forceps)
• Comfortable using tele-neonatology tools and central monitoring (CPN)
• Familiar with PCA pumps, IV pumps, infant warmers and bili-blankets
• Excellent teamwork, communication and patient-family education abilities
