Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage adult patients presenting to the emergency department quickly and accurately
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based emergency nursing care across a variety of acute presentations
• Administer medications, start and manage IV therapy, and monitor patient responses
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and clinical changes clearly and promptly in the medical record
• Provide patient and family education, emotional support, and discharge instructions
• Respond effectively to emergency situations and participate in codes as needed
• Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement in the emergency department

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Texas (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department or acute care adult nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills in high-acuity settings
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and a rotating schedule as required by the assignment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency triage and rapid assessment of adult patients
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and emergency interventions
• IV therapy, medication administration, and documentation best practices
• Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Prioritization and time management in a fast-paced ED environment
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation and clinical workflows
