Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality oncology nursing care on a 24-bed unit, supporting surgical and medical oncology patients
• Administer and monitor IV chemotherapy safely and accurately, following protocols and best practices
• Perform and assist with procedural care as needed, including occasional pelvic exams, thoracentesis support, and echo monitoring
• Document patient care thoroughly in Cerner EMR to ensure seamless communication across the care team
• Assess patient condition, manage symptoms, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and execute care plans
• Prioritize patient safety and education, teaching patients and families about treatments, side effect management, and discharge planning
• Work as a team player to support unit flow, participate in handoffs, and cover essential weekend staffing requirements

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state authorization to practice required)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (acute care or oncology preferred)
• Hands-on experience with IV chemotherapy administration preferred
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR in daily documentation and care coordination
• Chemo certification is a plus and will make your application stand out
• CNA license is a helpful bonus for candidates with dual qualifications

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and safe chemotherapy administration
• Proficient with Cerner electronic medical record workflows
• Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion monitoring
• Familiarity with procedural support for thoracentesis and echo-related monitoring
• Comfort with occasional pelvic exams and post-operative oncology care
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient education abilities
• Ability to manage 1:4–1:5 patient ratios while maintaining quality care
• Collaborative communication and teamwork on a busy med-surg oncology unit
