Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer IV therapies, biologics, chemotherapy, blood products, and hydration per physician orders and established protocols
• Assess patients prior to infusion by reviewing medical history, allergies, labs, and vital signs to ensure safe treatment
• Monitor patients during and after infusions for adverse reactions and intervene promptly and appropriately
• Initiate, maintain, and discontinue peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and ports while following best-practice vascular access techniques
• Provide clear, compassionate patient and family education about infusion therapies, side-effect expectations, and post-infusion care
• Document assessments, treatments, patient responses, and education accurately in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN licensure (MUST)
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) (MUST)
• ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Card (MUST)
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Proven experience with infusion therapy, IV medication administration, and vascular access management
• Comfortable documenting in EHR and monitoring for adverse infusion reactions
• Strong communication skills for patient/family education and team collaboration

Knowledge & Skills

• Infusion therapy best practices and safety protocols
• IV medication preparation and administration, including biologics and chemotherapy
• Blood product handling and transfusion monitoring
• Vascular access management: peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and implanted ports
• Patient assessment, vital sign monitoring, and early recognition of complications
• Thorough EHR documentation and charting skills
• Patient and family education techniques and compassionate bedside manner
