Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality cardiovascular and step-down nursing care for STEMI/NSTEMI, CHF, chest pain rule-outs, and post-cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and rapidly interpret cardiac rhythms to guide timely interventions
• Administer IV antiarrhythmic medications safely and per protocol
• Manage noninvasive ventilation and support patients transitioning out of ICU-level care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Respond promptly to emergent cardiac events, escalating care and activating appropriate pathways
• Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care

Qualifications

• Oklahoma RN license (Compact allowed)
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of SDU (Step-Down Unit) experience - required
• Experience floating to Med/Surg or ER to accept CVCU/Med-Surg holds - required
• Ability to work flexible schedules (no block scheduling)

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiovascular care and cardiac monitoring (telemetry)
• STEMI/NSTEMI recognition and management
• Chest pain rule-out protocols and CHF management
• Post-cardiothoracic surgery patient care after ICU
• Administration and monitoring of IV antiarrhythmic medications
• Noninvasive ventilation management
• Familiarity with CVCU/Med-Surg holds and step-down workflows
• Strong critical thinking, rapid assessment, and team collaboration skills
