Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform perioperative nursing and circulating duties at a competent, professional level in accordance with standards of practice
• Provide patient-focused care through all phases of the surgical experience
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient surgical care
• Maintain a safe, sterile, and caring operating room environment for patients and staff
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner EMR and maintain up-to-date skills checklists
• Support specialty surgical cases including orthopedics, neurosurgery, vascular, gynecology, and urology
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts and support adoption of new technologies like robotics

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (must be active; Nursys verification required)
• Minimum 3+ years of circulating experience (required)
• Proficient in orthopedic cases: total joints, hip fractures, arthroscopy, ORIFs, shoulder scopes and replacements (required)
• Proficient in general, neurosurgery, vascular, gynecology, and urology cases (required)
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Provide a current skills checklist (within 1 year) specific to Operating Room specialty
• Two supervisory references with dates of employment (required)
• Candidates must provide permanent address and be located more than 50 miles from the facility (local candidates within 50-mile radius are not eligible)
• Applicants who were direct employees within the last 2 years are not eligible (facility will review case-by-case)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and circulating expertise
• Strong sterile technique and surgical instrumentation knowledge
• Experience with Cerner EMR documentation
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Patient-centered care and excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with robotics in the OR (preferred)
• Adaptability to varied OR cases and ability to remain calm under pressure
