Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer physical therapy modalities and physical agents as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist
• Assist in restoration of patient function following injury, disease, or disability with hands-on care
• Perform patient assessments and follow treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist
• Provide patient education to promote independence and safe functional mobility
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation to support continuity of care and compliance
• Participate in departmental performance improvement (PI) activities to enhance care quality
• Follow infection control protocols and take part in departmental equipment training
• Engage in organizational training and fire safety programs to maintain a safe work environment

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant education program (typically a 2-year/associate degree)
• Licensed in good standing as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Alaska, OR completed FSBPT paperwork to work as a Student PTA post-graduation
• Current BLS certification
• Experience preferred but not required — new graduates are welcome to apply
• Comfort working with a full age range of patients (infants through geriatric)

Education

• Associate degree (or equivalent) from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Physical therapy modalities and use of physical agents
• Patient assessment and rehabilitation techniques
• Clinical documentation best practices
• Infection control procedures and departmental equipment operation
• Patient and family education for functional recovery
• Participation in performance improvement processes
• Familiarity with pediatrics and geriatrics care considerations
