Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care for stepdown/progressive care patients, monitoring condition changes and intervening promptly
• Monitor telemetry and hemodynamic status, recognizing deterioration early and escalating appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document all care in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and interdisciplinary team to create and execute patient-centered plans
• Perform focused assessments, prioritize interventions, and support safe transitions of care
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatments, and next steps with compassion and clarity
• Participate in unit quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure appropriate for practice in Kansas
• PRN (Per Diem) availability for day shifts as needed
• DCI/BVP certification as listed in the order
• Completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, Prime Specialty Exam, and Glucose Training Policy
• Successful completion of pre-employment health requirements: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, TB testing, Varicella, Tdap, and required physical/health statement
• Passing Prime color-blind test, minimum 10-panel drug screen, and fit test as required

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• ADN or BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience or comfort working in stepdown/progressive care and with telemetry monitoring
• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and the care team
• Accurate medication administration and documentation practices
• Familiarity with infection control practices and occupational health compliance
• Adaptability to variable PRN schedules and changing patient acuity
