Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care on a 23-bed Progressive Care Neuro/Trauma unit
• Continuously monitor telemetry and bedside monitors to detect and act on changes quickly
• Manage complex patients using advanced equipment including high-flow oxygen, chronic vents, end tidal O2 monitoring and subdural drains
• Perform procedures and competent care for chest tubes and EEG monitoring when needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and execute individualized care plans
• Respond to emergencies and escalate appropriately while maintaining calm leadership at the bedside
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in Meditech and communicate handoffs clearly
• Support unit staffing and float across inpatient areas including ICU and ED as required

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in New Hampshire or appropriate compact license)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience (PCU/step-down or telemetry preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• Experience with telemetry/step-down care and bedside monitors
• Comfortable caring for neuro and trauma patients; chest tubes and EEG experience a plus
• Ability to float to ICU and ED; team-oriented attitude and strong communication skills
• Preferred: NHISS and TNCC certifications

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and step-down clinical skills
• Experience with Meditech EMR documentation
• Familiarity with bedside monitors, end tidal O2 monitoring, and high-flow oxygen systems
• Skill caring for patients with chronic ventilators and subdural drains
• Ability to interpret EEGs and respond to neuro/trauma needs
• Comfort with 4:1 patient ratios in a fast-paced progressive care environment
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response capabilities
