Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients as an OR RN
• Prepare the operating room and ensure sterile technique for a variety of procedures including transplant and general surgery
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team to optimize patient outcomes
• Document assessments and care in the Meditech system accurately and promptly
• Support and float to other areas of the unit as needed according to Methodist floating policy
• Maintain BLS and ACLS standards and act quickly in emergency situations
• Participate in unit policies and contribute to a safe, patient-centered environment

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required; temporary licenses will not be accepted
• Minimum 2+ years of Operating Room experience and 2+ years of hospital experience
• Travel nursing experience required; previous travel assignments preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to float per unit policy and work rotating schedules including weekends
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) with current RN licensure in Texas

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient perioperative nursing skills and sterile technique
• Experience with Meditech documentation system
• Familiarity with robotics, urology, general surgery, and bariatric surgery procedures
• Knowledge of transplant procedures (liver, kidney, kidney-pancreas) is a plus
• Ability to handle fast-paced OR environments and adapt to changing schedules
• Excellent teamwork, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills
