Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ED and inpatient hold patient assignments with safe nurse-to-patient ratios and acuity-based care
• Perform skilled patient assessment and triage to prioritize treatment and resources
• Deliver acute care interventions, administer medications, and monitor patient response
• Coordinate transitions of care between the ED and inpatient teams to ensure seamless handoffs
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and communicate changes in patient condition
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills validation to maintain high standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support throughput and patient flow from ED holds
• Adhere to infection control, immunization, and safety requirements (fit test, respirator eval, drug screen)

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Connecticut or eligible for verification
• Current BLS required
• Current ACLS required
• Current PALS required
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required
• Experience in Emergency Department nursing and managing inpatient holds or ED hold ratios/acuity
• Ability to complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
• Compliance with health requirements: fit test, respirator evaluation, current immunizations, 10-panel drug screen

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and patient assessment skills in a high-acuity ED environment
• Knowledge of acute care protocols and emergency interventions
• Comfort managing ED-to-inpatient hold workflows and escalation processes
• Proficiency in bedside clinical decision-making and time management
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Familiarity with documentation and competency testing expectations
