Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population
• Rapidly assess, triage and stabilize patients with acute conditions including trauma, stroke, DKA and sepsis
• Perform procedures such as ultrasound-guided IV and IO insertion and EKG acquisition/interpretation
• Operate and monitor equipment including Alaris pumps, Lucas device and the Hotline Rapid Infuser during resuscitations
• Collaborate with physicians, ED techs and specialty teams to coordinate timely care and disposition
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Sunrise/Allscripts EMR
• Participate in department protocols and standing orders to initiate timely workups (labs, imaging, medications)
• Maintain a safe environment and follow unit policies including patient ratios and security procedures for the psychiatric annex

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to obtain NH licensure if not already held)
• Minimum 2 years Emergency Department (ED) experience for contract clinicians (explicit requirement)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC required for contract labor (these certifications are must-haves)
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills under pressure
• Dependability and punctuality with ability to work every other weekend as required
• Comfortable performing and interpreting EKGs; experience with U/S IV and advanced ED procedures preferred

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ASN/BSN); BSN preferred when available

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and trauma care
• Ultrasound-guided IV insertion and IO insertion
• EKG performance and interpretation
• Familiarity with Alaris pumps, Pyxis medication systems and Lucas device
• Experience with Sunrise/Allscripts EMR workflows and documentation
• Cardiopulmonary care and rapid resuscitation protocols
• Strong medical terminology knowledge and patient assessment skills
• Adaptability in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
