Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in the acute inpatient rehab setting to determine functional status and therapy needs
• Develop individualized care plans that target meaningful recovery goals
• Perform therapeutic procedures and techniques to improve mobility and function
• Supervise and coordinate therapeutic care with PTAs, OTs, speech therapists and rehab techs
• Document assessments, plans and progress clearly and promptly in Cerner PowerChart
• Communicate evaluation results and progress to patients, families and the interdisciplinary team
• Use patient lifting equipment and mobility aids safely to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina license to practice Physical Therapy (must have)
• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience; at least 1 year of acute care experience preferred
• Experience with orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary cases helpful
• Comfortable working in an acute care hospital environment with 1:1 patient ratios

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient evaluation and care plan development
• Skilled in a range of therapeutic procedures and mobility interventions
• Experienced with documentation in Cerner PowerChart
• Familiar with patient lifting equipment such as SARA+, Stedy and Maximove
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Efficient at managing a unit-to-unit inpatient caseload
• Knowledgeable about acute care protocols, safety and infection control
• Adaptable to varied caseloads across orthopedics, neuro and cardiopulmonary patients
