Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients presenting to the emergency department promptly and accurately
• Stabilize and initiate evidence-based interventions for acute and emergent conditions
• Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient response
• Document patient care thoroughly and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and ancillary staff to coordinate timely care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans
• Maintain compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies
• Participate in competency testing and specialty exams to maintain clinical excellence

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kansas license recommended given location)
• Experience or strong interest in Emergency Department nursing (ED experience preferred)
• DCI/BVP certification (listed in position requirements)
• Completion of required Prime exams and checklists: Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist, Prime Specialty Exam
• Up-to-date health screenings and immunizations as listed in the job packet (COVID-19, MMR, TB testing, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, influenza, drug screen, fit test)
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on PRN shifts and integrate quickly with clinical teams

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's in Nursing preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and rapid patient assessment in a fast-paced ED environment
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and care teams
• Accurate and timely documentation practices
• Ability to function effectively under pressure and during high-acuity cases
• Familiarity with competency-based testing and specialty exam workflows
