Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living to promote patient dignity
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility while encouraging independence
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly and accurately
- Document care and observations in resident charts following facility procedures
- Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and the care team to deliver coordinated, person-centered care
- Help create a warm, respectful environment that supports residents’ social and emotional needs
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential (state of practice) — Rhode Island certification preferred or eligible
- Completion of an approved CNA training program
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
- Comfortable working in long-term care or rehabilitation settings; strong communication and teamwork skills
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic nursing care and activities of daily living (ADL) support
- Infection prevention and safe patient handling techniques
- Accurate documentation and reporting of observations
- Strong interpersonal skills and compassionate bedside manner
- Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed nursing staff
