Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and ensure all surgical instruments and supplies are sterile and ready
• Maintain the sterile field and anticipate the surgeon’s needs during procedures
• Set up and operate specialty instruments and equipment with care
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and sutures efficiently and safely
• Perform sponge, needle and instrument counts to support patient safety
• Clean, decontaminate, and restock instruments and OR rooms between cases
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, nurses, and perioperative staff to maintain smooth case flow

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or completion of an accredited surgical technologist program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willing to obtain
• Previous OR/surgical tech experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical training are welcome
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, instrument handling, and OR safety protocols
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and infection control practices
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments, trays, and specialty equipment
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and prioritize tasks under pressure
• Strong attention to detail for accurate counts and documentation
• Team-oriented mindset with clear, calm communication skills
