Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up the operating room with sterile instruments and supplies before procedures
• Assist the surgical team throughout procedures by passing instruments and maintaining the sterile field
• Inspect and prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for safe, efficient use
• Maintain strict infection control practices and ensure patient safety in the perioperative environment
• Document case counts, instrument usage, and clinical actions accurately and timely
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and techs to ensure smooth OR flow and excellent patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent operating room technician credential
• Minimum 1 year of recent OR experience (as specified in the job posting)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment and following OR protocols
• Valid state licensure/certification as required by facility and state regulations

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative infection control
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and supplies
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and respond promptly during procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary setting
• Accurate documentation skills and attention to detail
• Basic troubleshooting of OR equipment and instrumentation
