Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care across MedSurg and Telemetry units, ensuring safety and dignity at every step
- Monitor and report telemetry and vital sign changes promptly to nursing staff and providers
- Assist with ADLs (activities of daily living) including bathing, feeding, mobility and comfort measures
- Support efficient unit flow by floating between Mercy Downtown and Mercy Southwest as needed
- Document care accurately and timely using Cerner to maintain continuity and patient safety
- Collaborate with nurses and the interdisciplinary team to follow care plans and escalate concerns
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and training to maintain high standards of care
Qualifications
- Active CNA certification (required)
- BLS (AHA) certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years of Acute Care experience (MedSurg/Telemetry experience required)
- Comfortable working 12-hour day shifts and floating across units
- Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
Education
- CNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and basic cardiac rhythm recognition
- MedSurg patient care fundamentals and acuity management
- Proficient in infection control, patient safety and bedside documentation
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt while floating between units
- Empathy, strong patient advocacy, and clear communication with patients and families
