Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care as a CNA on MedSurg and Telemetry units
- Monitor and report patient condition changes promptly to the nursing team
- Assist with ADLs, mobility, feeding, and comfort measures to improve patient experience
- Accurately document care and observations in Cerner to support clinical continuity
- Float between Mercy Downtown and Mercy Southwest to meet unit staffing needs
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support care plans
- Participate in orientation and unit-specific training to maintain quality and safety
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification and ability to submit license documents
- Minimum 2 years of Acute Care / MedSurg / Telemetry experience
- BLS (AHA) certification required and current
- Comfortable charting in Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
- Able and willing to float across units and travel between Mercy Downtown and Mercy Southwest
- Available to work night shifts and Every Other Weekend (EOW)
- Able to complete 12 hours of orientation as required and pass background/drug screening
Education
- Completion of a state-approved CNA program
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong foundational nursing assistant skills and patient-centered care
- Telemetry monitoring familiarity and ability to recognize cardiac changes
- MedSurg clinical knowledge and acute care practices
- Proficient in electronic charting (Cerner preferred)
- Reliable time management and teamwork while floating across units
- Clear communication and documentation to support safe handoffs
