Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients using the nursing process — perform timely assessments, create plans, implement care, and evaluate outcomes
• Provide direct, safe patient care in the Med/Surg/Telemetry setting with attention to detail and compassion
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and communicate changes in condition to physicians and the care team
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care to empower recovery
• Document accurately in the patient record and use Meditech EMR when applicable
• Respond quickly and effectively to acute changes and emergencies, applying ACLS/PALS skills as needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain standards of care and improve patient outcomes
• Float to units of competency as needed to support staffing and patient care demands

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS required (AHA or Red Cross)
• Current ACLS required (AHA or Red Cross)
• PALS and DCI/BVP certifications preferred or required per unit checklist
• Minimum 1 year of prior Acute Care hospital experience (Telemetry/Med-Surg experience preferred)
• Meditech EMR experience is a plus
• Ability to pass required health screenings, drug screen, fit test, and immunization requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Med/Surg principles and direct patient care skills
• Patient and family education techniques
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Critical thinking, clinical judgment, and the ability to prioritize in urgent situations
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic medical records
