Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful care to geriatric residents and support their dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team promptly
• Help with safe transfers and use of mobility aids to reduce fall risk
• Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
• Support a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through attentive care

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification required; Maryland certification preferred or eligibility to obtain
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Comfortable working with older adults and people with complex care needs
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a care team
• Basic proficiency with charting and following care plans
• Willingness to complete facility-specific orientation and any required screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and respectful elder care
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Basic vital sign collection and recognition of common clinical changes
• Infection control practices and proper use of PPE
• Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and teammates
• Attention to detail for documentation and care plan adherence
