Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough inpatient psychiatric assessments and develop clear, individualized treatment plans
• Provide expert medication management and pharmacotherapy tailored to each patient
• Evaluate and manage involuntary commitment processes when clinically indicated
• Treat a wide range of disorders including anxiety, affective, personality, developmental, psychotic, substance use, and trauma-related conditions
• Collaborate closely with advanced practice providers, psychologists (per diem), nursing, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Maintain accurate, timely charting using the Wellsky EMR
• Manage an active caseload (approximately 18 patients per day) while ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care
• Participate in scheduled phone on-call duties and occasional weekend coverage as requested

Qualifications

• Physician (seeking permanent placement — locum applicants not being considered)
• Familiarity with involuntary commitments and strong pharmacotherapy skills (explicitly required)
• Experience in inpatient psychiatry and managing anxiety, affective, personality, developmental, psychotic, substance use, and trauma-related disorders
• Comfort and experience using Wellsky EMR
• Comfort collaborating with advanced practice providers and working within a team-supported model
• Ability to manage an average daily census of ~18 patients and provide high-quality inpatient care

Knowledge & Skills

• Inpatient psychiatric assessment and treatment planning
• Medication management and psychopharmacology
• Experience with involuntary commitment procedures
• Proficiency with Wellsky EMR
• Collaborative team-based care with advanced practice providers
• Skill managing a broad range of psychiatric diagnoses across acute inpatient settings
