Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, including assistance with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding)
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team promptly
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Support mealtime, hydration, and comfort to promote dignity and quality of life
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident observations
• Follow infection control policies and contribute to a clean, safe environment for residents

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (or state-equivalent nursing assistant certification)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Current immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Experience working with older adults or in long-term care preferred
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a resident-centered approach
• Ability to work the 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM shift and adapt to per-diem scheduling

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living and mobility support
• Basic vital signs measurement and recognizing clinical changes
• Understanding of infection prevention and safe hygiene practices
• Patient-focused bedside manner and de-escalation skills
• Reliable documentation and handoff communication
• Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively with nursing staff
