Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while preserving dignity
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Document care accurately and communicate clearly with colleagues and families
• Observe residents for changes in condition and promptly escalate concerns
• Promote a comfortable, clean, and safe environment for residents

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or completion of an approved GNA program
• Prior experience or demonstrated comfort working with geriatric patients preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident-centered care

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on resident care and activities of daily living
• Taking and recording vitals accurately
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Infection control and standard precautions
• Strong interpersonal and empathetic communication
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
• Team collaboration with nurses, therapists, and support staff
