Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to geriatric patients
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding)
• Monitor residents and promptly report changes in condition to nursing staff
• Support mobility and safe transfers while promoting independence
• Maintain clear, accurate documentation of care and observations
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents
• Collaborate with the care team to deliver consistent, high-quality care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required as indicated by job class
• Comfort working with the geriatric population and in long-term care settings
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with nursing staff
• Reliable, compassionate approach and attention to resident dignity

Education

• GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or equivalent (commonly preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational knowledge of geriatric nursing principles and best practices
• Basic skills in resident care: ADLs, mobility assistance, and observation
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
• Ability to document care accurately and communicate concerns clearly
• Empathy, patience, and effective interpersonal skills
