Roles & Responsibilities

• Serve as the patient advocate throughout the perioperative journey, coordinating care from pre-op to post-op
• Circulate in the Operating Room: prepare the room, ensure equipment and supplies, and maintain patient safety
• Monitor and anticipate patient needs during procedures, collaborating closely with surgeons and the perioperative team
• Document care accurately and timely, ensuring continuity across phases of care
• Support sterile technique and infection control best practices in every case
• Participate in on-call coverage when scheduled, responding promptly and professionally

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (able to practice in Vermont or eligible for state licensure)
• Experience in Operating Room (OR) nursing and perioperative care as an OR Circulator
• Comfort and experience taking call as part of the team
• Strong patient advocacy and care coordination skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; perioperative certifications such as CNOR are a strong plus

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and OR workflows
• Patient advocacy and pre/postoperative care coordination
• Aseptic technique and sterile field maintenance
• Effective communication with surgical teams, patients, and families
• Ability to multitask in fast-paced procedural settings and respond calmly on call
