Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to older adults and support their dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Measure and record vital signs and report changes to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Document care accurately and timely in the facility charting system
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Communicate effectively with the care team and residents' families to coordinate care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required where applicable)
• Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to elder care
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs for geriatric populations
• Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
• Knowledge of safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Familiarity with infection prevention and hygiene practices
• Good documentation and time-management skills
• Clear communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
