Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and continuously monitor progressive care/telemetry patients using on-unit and remote cardiac monitoring
• Interpret dysrhythmias and participate in rapid response/code teams to keep patients safe
• Start and maintain IVs, manage peripheral and central/PICC lines, and administer blood products per protocol
• Manage and titrate IV insulin drips and follow heparin and PCA protocols accurately
• Provide wound care, including Wound Vac management and surgical drain care
• Perform phlebotomy and other bedside procedures with attention to patient comfort and safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Work, etc.) to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans while documenting care clearly and timely
• Adhere to isolation precautions/PPE and facility guidelines (flu vaccine required, medical exemptions only)

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience (as listed in the job details)
• Previous telemetry / progressive care (PCU/IMC/Stepdown) experience preferred
• ACLS and BLS certifications preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Willingness to float to other areas as needed
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions only)
• Comfortable working with cardiac monitoring, insulin titration protocols, and rapid response processes

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote) and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• IV therapy: starting/maintaining IVs, peripheral/central line and PICC management
• Phlebotomy and blood product administration
• Wound care and Wound Vac management
• IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration (including oxygen tanks)
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams and emergency response procedures
• Familiarity with PCA and heparin protocols
• Isolation precautions/PPE and infection control practices
• Ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary support teams
