Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care to pediatric patients, preparing them physically and emotionally for procedures
Perform focused assessments and communicate findings clearly to the surgical team
Coordinate with families to explain pre-op instructions and ease anxieties
Prepare and verify pre-op documentation, consents, and medication reconciliation
Ensure safe handoff to the operating team, following all facility protocols
Participate in orientation and unit-based training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in Missouri)
Experience or interest in pediatrics and pre-operative nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Comfortable with pediatric patient and family-centered communication
Current immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
Professional, reliable, and able to work collaboratively in a surgical setting

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication skills
Pre-op preparation and perioperative safety practices
Documentation and electronic health record familiarity
Ability to follow sterile technique and facility infection control policies
Strong teamwork and clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
