Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, monitoring recovery and comfort
• Assess and document vital signs and neurological status, escalating concerns promptly
• Administer medications and pain management interventions per orders and protocols
• Collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgical, and pediatric care teams to ensure seamless handoffs
• Educate and support families during the recovery process with clear, compassionate communication
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic medical records and shift reports
• Participate actively in orientation, unit-based education, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (required)
• Experience or comfort working with pediatric patients in a PACU or post-op setting preferred
• Current BLS certification required; PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to respond calmly in fast-paced situations
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to pass required background checks and credentialing processes

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred
• Active RN license in Ohio

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia and post-operative pediatric assessment and monitoring
• Pain management and safe medication administration in pediatric patients
• Familiarity with pediatric airway management basics and recovery protocols
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Teamwork, clear communication, and family-centered care approach
• Infection control practices and pediatric safety standards
