Registered Nurse - PACU (Pediatrics)
Location: St. Louis, MO

Contract Type: Per-Diem
Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU
- Monitor vital signs and clinical status closely to ensure safe recovery
- Administer medications and manage IV therapies per protocol
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists and families about patient status
- Document care and recovery milestones accurately in the medical record
- Participate in orientation and unit-based training to maintain high standards of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate smooth patient transitions
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (Missouri) required
- Experience in PACU care; pediatric experience strongly preferred
- BLS required; PALS preferred for pediatric post-anesthesia care
- Comfortable with IV management, medication administration and monitoring equipment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a perioperative team
- Willingness to participate in orientation and unit training
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Recovery room and post-anesthesia care principles
- Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate care techniques
- Pain management strategies for post-op pediatric patients
- Airway management and basic resuscitation skills
- Proficiency with patient monitoring systems and electronic medical records
- Accurate clinical documentation and handoff communication
