Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia recovery care for pediatric patients in the PACU
• Assess and monitor vital signs, pain, airway status, and neuro status continuously
• Administer medications and titrate treatments per orders and protocols
• Perform safe patient handoffs and communicate status to surgical teams and families
• Document care accurately and promptly in the electronic record
• Participate in orientation, unit-based training, and quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts required
• Experience or strong interest in PACU and pediatric patient care preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) highly preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with perioperative teams
• Current immunizations and any facility-required health screenings

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia assessment and recovery protocols for pediatric patients
• Airway management basics and monitoring of sedation levels
• Pediatric medication administration and pain management principles
• IV therapy, wound assessment, and basic procedural support
• Clear, timely clinical documentation and effective interprofessional communication
• Ability to respond calmly in urgent or rapidly changing clinical situations
