Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients
• Prepare the operating room and ensure sterile technique is maintained
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff to coordinate patient care
• Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative process and intervene as needed
• Accurately document care, surgical counts and patient handoffs in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and follow facility protocols
• Educate patients and families about perioperative expectations and recovery

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) preferred
• Previous Operating Room experience is preferred; new grads with strong perioperative training are encouraged to apply
• Familiarity with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation and perioperative workflows
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile field maintenance
• Patient assessment, monitoring and post-anesthesia care basics
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Surgical instrumentation and procedural workflows
• Infection control practices and safety-focused mindset
• Teamwork, situational awareness and strong time management
