Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for general OR cases
• Prepare operating rooms and ensure sterile technique is maintained throughout procedures
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform thorough pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments and documentation
• Anticipate needs during surgery and assist with instrumentation, patient positioning, and equipment
• Adhere to facility policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate critical information clearly and professionally

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience in OR-General or perioperative nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) preferred where applicable
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to pass background and drug screening per facility requirements
• Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Completion of accredited nursing program and active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and operating room workflows
• Patient assessment and monitoring in the perioperative setting
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) usage
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm under pressure
• Team-oriented mindset and strong interpersonal skills
