Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to Neuro Stepdown (SDU) patients, monitoring neuro status and vital signs closely
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document all care accurately
• Recognize and escalate changes in patient neurological or hemodynamic status without delay
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans and discharge instructions with compassion and clarity
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure required) — compact license accepted where applicable
• Experience or clinical exposure in Neuro Stepdown/SDU or progressive care environments preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment and communication skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour clinical shifts and provide compassionate, patient-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred when available

Knowledge & Skills

• Neuro assessment and monitoring (GCS, pupillary checks, neuro checks)
• Cardiac telemetry familiarity and hemodynamic monitoring
• Medication administration and titration knowledge for neuro and critical care meds
• Clinical documentation and electronic health record (EHR) proficiency
• Team collaboration, patient/family education, and time management in fast-paced settings
