Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality med-surg and telemetry nursing care to inpatient hold patients with attention to safety and acuity
• Manage ED hold patients efficiently and compassionately, coordinating transitions of care
• Monitor telemetry and respond promptly to cardiac and clinical changes
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prioritize patient flow and deliver timely interventions
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and participate in Trinity Skills Checklist and competency testing
• Maintain required screenings, vaccine status, and fit testing to meet facility health standards
• Support triage and clinical decisions for higher-acuity patients when asked to take ED patients

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-appropriate) and License/Certificate verification
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• PALS and TNCC certifications required
• Experience in Med-Surg and Telemetry nursing; inpatient nursing experience preferred
• Comfort and ability to accept ED patients and manage ED holds
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist prior to assignment
• Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, respirator evaluation, immunizations, 2-step PPD or IGRA, and 10-panel drug screen

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry cardiac monitoring and rhythm recognition
• Med-Surg assessment, IV medication administration, and clinical documentation
• Managing patient acuity and prioritizing tasks in a busy inpatient/ED-hold environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with physicians, ED staff, and ancillary departments
• Ability to follow facility-specific competency protocols and quickly adapt to unit workflows
• Critical thinking for timely escalation and intervention
