Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and prioritize patients in the Emergency Department with speed and clinical judgment
• Deliver direct patient care including medication administration, wound care, and monitoring
• Collaborate closely with physicians, techs, and support staff to develop and execute care plans
• Perform timely documentation in the electronic health record and communicate changes in condition
• Provide patient- and family-centered education and emotional support during high-stress moments
• Respond to emergency situations and participate in resuscitation and trauma care efforts
• Advocate for patient safety, infection control, and best-practice clinical standards

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky or compact RN license active and in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or willingness to obtain
• Current immunizations and any required health screenings per facility policy
• Comfort working in a fast-paced emergency setting; ED experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage assessment and emergency nursing principles
• Proficient in IV therapy, medication administration, and basic procedures
• Familiarity with electronic health records and timely documentation
• Critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and excellent situational awareness
• Ability to remain calm and organized during high-acuity events
• Teamwork, clear communication, and patient advocacy
