Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered behavioral health nursing care to adults and/or adolescents as assigned
• Assess, monitor, and document mental health status, behaviors, and responses to treatment with clarity and professionalism
• Administer medications safely and according to protocol, while educating patients and families as needed
• Use de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention skills to maintain a therapeutic, safe environment
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (physicians, therapists, social workers) to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Participate in orientation, unit training, and ongoing professional development to maintain clinical excellence
• Advocate for patient needs and support transition planning and discharge coordination

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license — ability to hold NH RN license or obtain one prior to start
• Experience or interest in behavioral health nursing (BHS) — prior inpatient/outpatient BH experience is a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications (e.g., CPI) preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and medication administration skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and de-escalation abilities

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Behavioral health assessment and crisis intervention techniques
• Medication administration and safe documentation practices
• De-escalation strategies and therapeutic communication
• Electronic medical record documentation and basic computer skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
• Knowledge of patient safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
