Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal) with accuracy and clinical confidence.
• Conduct exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography to deliver high-quality diagnostic data to cardiology teams.
• Execute other cardiac diagnostics as assigned, including EKGs, Holter monitor setup/monitoring/analysis, and cardiac stress tests.
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment (echocardiographs, stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors) to ensure optimal image and data quality.
• Accurately document and process studies in hospital information systems, including scheduling and charge capture.
• Maintain infection control standards, practice aseptic technique, and perform equipment disinfection to protect patients and staff.
• Provide clinical instruction and preceptorship to students from partner colleges and universities as part of training agreements.
• Deliver age-specific patient care across the lifespan, with demonstrated competency in neonatal and pediatric echocardiography.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential required.
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program and/or a minimum of two years hands-on echocardiography experience.
• Preferred: Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography and extensive hospital-based echocardiography experience, including pediatric/neonatal studies.
• Comfort working evenings and on a variable full-time schedule; dependable and patient-focused.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential (required)
• Preferred: Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography or completion of an accredited echocardiography program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven ability with transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, including M-Mode and color-flow Doppler.
• Experience performing stress echocardiography (exercise and pharmacologic) and cardiac stress testing.
• Skilled in electrocardiography, EKG interpretation basics, Holter monitoring setup and analysis.
• Familiarity with echocardiograph and cardiac diagnostic systems and computerized analysis tools.
• Strong infection control knowledge, aseptic technique, and equipment disinfection practices.
• Experience providing clinical instruction and precepting students in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to deliver age-specific care, including neonatal and pediatric patient handling and protocols.
