Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide on-shift leadership as a charge nurse, coordinating care and ensuring safe patient flow
• Mentor and support staff clinically and professionally to promote high-quality care
• Round on patients to identify and address safety or service concerns proactively
• Serve as a clinical resource for both patient care and interpersonal staff issues
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms to guide timely interventions
• Document care accurately using Cerner and communicate effectively during handoffs
• Step into charge assignments as needed based on census and staffing levels

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission in California
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience, with telemetry and acute care background
• Must have served as a charge RN in the most recent assignment; no first-time travelers
• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• NIHSS certification (AHA or APEX) required
• Experience with Cerner charting system
• Comfort with leadership, clinical mentoring, and manager-level responsibilities

Education

• Active RN license required for submission
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Acute care nursing best practices and patient safety principles
• Charge nurse duties including staffing, delegation, and escalation
• Clinical mentoring and team leadership
• Proficient charting in Cerner and accurate clinical documentation
• Effective patient rounding and communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to float between units and adapt to varying patient populations
