Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead on-shift charge assignments to ensure safe, efficient patient care
- Mentor and coach nursing staff as a clinical resource and role model
- Provide high-quality telemetry and acute care nursing for complex patients
- Round on patients to proactively address safety, service, and clinical concerns
- Serve as the go-to resource for clinical and interpersonal issues on the unit
- Coordinate staffing and assignments to maintain optimal unit operations
- Document accurately and timely in Cerner to support patient continuity
- Participate in orientation and training to help new staff integrate smoothly
Qualifications
- Active California RN license (required)
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience (as listed)
- Must have served as a charge RN in the most recent assignment — no first-time travelers
- ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NIHSS (AHA or APEX) required
- Telemetry and acute care nursing experience
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system
- Comfort with night shifts and floating to support unit needs
- BSN not required
Education
- Active RN license in California
- BSN not required (per job posting)

- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- Charge nurse leadership and unit management
- Clinical mentorship and staff development
- Acute care nursing best practices
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting
- NIHSS stroke assessment familiarity
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and triage skills
- Ability to handle high-acuity situations calmly and efficiently
