Shift Type: Rotating nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts). Schedule set in 6-week blocks by leadership; includes 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule and occasional holiday rotation. Night shift (NOC) with floating across Zone 1 facilities.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Float confidently across PCU/IMC units within the Zone 1 radius to meet patient care needs
- Assess and care for adult and geriatric patients with a range of diagnoses including cardiac, neuro, oncology and post‑op cases
- Titrate and manage cardiac drips and other critical medications (dopamine, dobutamine, diltiazem, amiodarone, insulin, ativan, heparin) safely and per policy
- Monitor telemetry/stepdown patients and intervene appropriately based on acuity
- Document patient care and communicate clearly using Epic to ensure continuity and safety
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, charge nurses, and unit leadership to maintain safe nurse:patient ratios (typically 1:3-4)
- Support unit needs by filling schedule gaps, participating in weekend and holiday rotations as required
- Participate in unit orientation and preceptor-guided onboarding to ensure smooth transitions
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to submit for assignment) — compact licensure accepted where applicable
- Minimum 2 years of PCU/IMC or telemetry/stepdown experience
- BLS and ACLS required (AHA preferred)
- NIHSS and TNCC required per unit credential expectations
- Comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, and heparin
- Prior Epic experience preferred
- Ability and willingness to float across facilities within a 60-mile zone and secure housing that supports floating
- Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN — BSN not required
- Current RN license as required by facility/state
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and stepdown monitoring and interpretation
- Cardiac drip titration and hemodynamic management
- Familiarity with common titratable drips: dopamine, dobutamine, diltiazem, amiodarone
- Management of insulin protocols, ativan and heparin therapy
- Experience with Epic electronic health record/charting
- Stroke assessment using NIHSS and basic trauma assessment (TNCC)
- Ability to work with RT equipment (vent, CPAP, BiPAP) and collaborate with respiratory therapy
- Adaptability to multiple specialties (cardiac, neuro, oncology, rehab, renal, ortho, trauma, ED OBS)
