Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Help with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting while preserving dignity
• Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and safe repositioning to prevent falls and pressure injuries
• Monitor and record vital signs and report clinical changes promptly to nursing staff
• Maintain accurate documentation and support continuity of care through clear communication
• Support mealtime assistance and follow special diet/feeding instructions as required
• Create a warm, respectful environment that promotes resident comfort and social engagement
• Participate in team huddles and follow facility policies to maintain safety and quality standards

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (Class: GNA) — required
• Experience working with older adults or in long-term/post-acute care settings preferred
• Comfortable working night shift hours and able to handle physical aspects of the role
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass facility background check, health screen, and drug screening per policy

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of geriatric care principles and respectful resident-centered practices
• Skilled in ADLs, safe transfers, positioning, and basic mobility support
• Able to take and document vital signs accurately and recognize concerning trends
• Good communication and teamwork skills with nurses, therapists, and families
• Familiarity with infection control practices and maintaining a clean, safe environment
• Basic charting and documentation skills; ability to follow care plans and instructions
