Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up sterile supplies and surgical instruments for each assigned procedure
• Maintain the sterile field throughout cases and anticipate surgeon needs
• Pass instruments and supplies efficiently and safely during procedures
• Ensure instruments are cleaned, sterilized, and accounted for before and after cases
• Perform surgical prep and assist with room turnover to keep the OR on schedule
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
• Complete required documentation and competency checklists accurately
• Participate in required exams and training to maintain clinical readiness

Qualifications

• BLS certification (required)
• License/certificate verification as applicable for surgical technologists
• Successful completion of Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam (as listed)
• Current immunizations and health screenings (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, TB, Varicella, Tdap) and fit test
• Pass a minimum 10-panel drug screen and color-blind test
• Demonstrated experience or training in operating room procedures and sterile technique preferred
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and ability to work under pressure

• Sterile technique and sterile field maintenance
• Surgical instrument handling and preparation
• Instrument sterilization and OR turnover processes
• Operating room procedures and surgical workflow
• Patient safety and infection prevention practices
• Clear communication with surgeons, nurses, and perioperative team members
• Proficiency with surgical counts and documentation
