Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations across requested body parts for radiologist interpretation
• Apply professional judgment and radiation protection principles during procedures
• Maintain accurate patient records, files, and required paperwork accompanying procedures
• Participate in and assume responsibility for departmental quality assurance efforts
• Prepare and care for transducers and maintain neat, organized work areas (including Trophon care)
• Assist with ultrasound invasive procedures and consult with referring physicians as needed
• Rotate shifts as required and be able to assume department responsibility in supervisor absence
• Support accreditation activities and contribute to policy/procedure preparation
• Provide compassionate patient transfers and age-appropriate care across the lifespan

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association required
• Able to perform all diagnostic exams related to assigned modality
• Preferred: ARDMS in multiple categories or progression toward multi-category certification
• Ability to work in General plus one other ultrasound field (vascular or cardiac)
• Willingness to travel to other SEARHC sites when required

Education

• ARDMS certification in one modality (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS) required
• BLS (AHA) required
• Ongoing continuing education to meet RDMS/radiology requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in sonographic examination and image acquisition
• Strong patient assessment and age-appropriate care abilities
• Excellent record keeping and adherence to quality assurance practices
• Knowledge of radiation protection principles and transducer care
• Experience assisting with ultrasound invasive procedures and Trophon maintenance
• Good communication, teamwork, and ability to work under stress
• Commitment to continuing education and professional development
