Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile field and surgical instruments for procedures
• Assist surgeons and the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies efficiently
• Perform instrument counts and documentation accurately to support patient safety
• Anticipate surgeon needs and adapt quickly during cases
• Help set up operating rooms and ensure equipment is functioning properly
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe OR environment
• Communicate clearly with team members and support staff to ensure smooth workflows

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical tech program preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain upon hire
• Prior operating room or surgical services experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
• Ability to work well under pressure and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Valid state licensure/credentials as required by facility policies

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Familiarity with operating room protocols and infection control standards
• Comfortable with instrument counts, specimen handling, and documentation
• Ability to anticipate procedural needs and support surgical flow
• Good communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
