Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and update the SEARHC Infection Prevention and Control Program and associated policies
• Conduct surveillance, collect and analyze infection control data, and prepare statistical reports for NHSN and regulatory agencies
• Interpret data trends and translate findings into actionable improvements and policy updates
• Design and deliver infection prevention education and training for staff, patients, families, and communities
• Serve as chair of the IPC committee and provide oversight for the Employee Health program
• Ensure timely reporting and compliance with CMS, CDC, OSHA, FDA, TJC, and other regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with public health and regional partners to keep practices aligned with current evidence and guidelines
• Travel to SEARHC sites to assess practices, provide education, and support implementation of IPC initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must have an active Alaska license)
• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar) required
• Master's degree (MPH or MSN) preferred
• Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
• BLS current within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually
• Clinical and Manager Competency requirements to be completed within 3 months of hire
• Minimum 3 years of acute care/infection control experience and/or data collection and performance improvement/risk management experience
• Experience with basic statistics and epidemiologic principles; Long-Term Care experience a plus

Education

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar (required)
• Master's degree (MPH or MSN) preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent (baseline requirement noted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease principles
• Experience with infection control surveillance and NHSN reporting
• Strong data collection, analysis, trending, and reporting skills
• Proficient with MS Office and database applications
• Familiarity with APIC guidelines and national regulatory standards (CMS, CDC, TJC, OSHA, FDA)
• Project management and performance improvement methodology experience
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into policies and educational materials
• Excellent communication skills with sensitivity to health literacy and multicultural audiences
