Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize mechanical ventilation for adult critical care patients using GE (and preferred Hamilton) ventilators
• Perform airway management and suctioning, including tracheostomy care and nasal/oral airway placement
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide respiratory interventions
• Deliver respiratory medications and manage delivery systems (MDI, nebulizers, trach collars, T-piece)
• Troubleshoot high-pressure alarms and lead safe weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Provide high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPAP and CPAP therapy as clinically indicated
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in an academic medical center to optimize patient outcomes
• Float between campuses when needed and adapt to varied unit settings including adult critical care and ED airway management

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required and college diploma/transcripts required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred; CRT considered
• OH state respiratory license required (per facility credentialing)
• ACLS and BLS preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant respiratory care experience (explicitly listed)
• Comfort working nights and weekends and able to float between campuses
• Flu vaccine required per facility policy (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management (GE ventilators; Hamilton ventilator preferred)
• Airway management and suctioning techniques
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Tracheostomy care and management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP and CPAP therapies
• Oxygen therapy and pulmonary hygiene
• Medication administration for respiratory agents and familiarity with MDI/nebulizer systems
• Troubleshooting high-pressure alarms and weaning protocols
• Experience in adult critical care and emergency department airway support
