Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients in the step-down/SDU setting
• Continuously monitor patient status and promptly report changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and multidisciplinary staff to develop and implement care plans
• Perform timely patient assessments, including cardiac and respiratory monitoring as indicated
• Support patient and family education, ensuring understanding of care plans and discharge instructions
• Participate actively in orientation and ongoing clinical training to maintain best practices

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Louisiana or compact where applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS/other certifications preferred where applicable
• Experience or comfort working in a step-down/SDU or telemetry environment preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and familiarity with cardiac/telemetry monitoring
• Good communication skills, teamwork orientation, and commitment to patient-centered care
• Ability to pass required background checks and facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Patient assessment and acute care interventions
• IV therapy and medication administration best practices
• Electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Infection control and patient safety practices
• Strong collaboration and communication with interdisciplinary teams
