Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality bedside nursing care for critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Monitor patient condition continuously and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
• Perform timely assessments, document findings clearly, and update care plans
• Administer medications and therapies safely and according to protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in family education and support during critical care episodes
• Assist with unit orientation and mentoring of newer staff when needed

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure (California preferred)
• Experience or strong interest in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nursing
• BLS required; PALS and other pediatric certifications highly desirable
• Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Professional, reliable, and committed to patient-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid pediatric assessment and hemodynamic monitoring skills
• Familiarity with ventilator management and pediatric critical care equipment
• Proficient documentation skills and comfort with electronic medical records
• Strong teamwork, prioritization, and time management abilities
• Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-acuity situations
